The former top stallion Asti Spumante(Argentinus x Landfrieden x Welt As) has passed away at the age of 29. The exceptional stallion, who celebrated international successes under Thomas Mühlbauer, left his mark on show jumping for years and remained an impressive figure to the end.

Born in 1995 to the Nienaber family in Garrel, he became the property of the Bavarian Main and State Stud Schwaiganger in 1997 after being licensed by the Oldenburg Verband. Under Mühlbauer, Asti Spumante won the Munich Indoors, the indoor derby in Vienna and was part of the successful Nations Cup team in Hickstead, Dublin and Barcelona in 2007. At the 2009 European Championships in Windsor, the pair won team bronze and came fifth in the individual classification.

After his sporting career, Asti Spumante was retired from sport in 2012 and worked as a stud stallion. In 2014, he moved to Nyrat Stud in France before returning to Schwaiganger in 2020, where he spent the rest of his life.
