The internationally renowned Danish breeder Henrik Hansen has died at the age of 60 after a serious accident while unloading stallions after the stallion licensing in Herning. Hansen was in a coma for ten days before succumbing to his injuries on Thursday.
Hansen was considered one of Denmark's most influential breeders. He set standards with horses such as Fiontini (Fassbinder x Glock's Romanov) and Fiontina (Fassbinder x Glock's Romanov), who won gold and silver at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in 2015. Fiontini won the WEG three years in a row and later established himself at Grand Prix level. Hansen achieved further successes with the World Champion Global Player (Kastel's Grand Galaxy Win x Don Schufro) and the show jumping stallion Cassado II (Casall x Corrado I). For his exceptional achievements, he was named "Breeder of the Year" by Dansk Varmblod in 2023.
