Soon the time will come! The CHIO Aachen awaits us this week in Aachen and on ClipMyHorse.TV. Are you ready for ten days of top-class equestrian sport? Many highlights await you in your favorite discipline, such as the Rolex Grand Prix for the show jumping fans, the Nations Cup™ and the Deutsche Bank Prize for the dressage fans, the SAP Cup for the eventing fans, the Prize of the Sparkasse with its competitions in singles, pas de deux, squad competitions and the official team competition of the nations for the vaulting fans. Driving fans can expect exciting rounds with difficult obstacles, skilled drivers, and impressive horses. With Great Britain as the partner country at this year's World Equestrian Festival, a long-cherished wish of the CHIO Aachen will come true. Especially because Her Royal Highness Princess Anne will be visiting the Aachen Soers again, the Opening Ceremony will have the motto "all you need is love" with the musical ride of the Household Cavalry, typical British carriages and the "Grand National Shetland Ponies".

On the first day of the CHIO Aachen, visitors can expect breathtaking performances from the vaulters in the Albert-Vahle-Arena. The vaulters will compete in technical and compulsory competitions, in which they will demonstrate their skill and precision. The first competition of the vaulters on Friday, June 23, starts at 9 a.m., with the last competition at 5:45 p.m. Here you can find the complete schedule for the first day of the CHIO Aachen 2023 at a glance. Main Stadium
Look forward to another exciting day at the CHIO Aachen 2023. Have a look at the schedule for today and click on the individual competitions to watch them in the Livestream follow them. Early Tuesday morning the riders will start their day with a warm-up. In the afternoon, several jumping competitions are on the schedule, including the STAWAG Opening Jumping, the German U25 Trophy of the German Equestrian Foundation, the Prize of the Müter Family Qualifier and the Sparkassen Youngsters Cup. The night will then conclude with the official opening ceremony.

Main Stadium
On Wednesday, the show jumpers start with the Prize of the Crafts. Then it continues with the competition from the day before for the German U25 Trophy of the German Equestrian Foundation, Prize of the Müter Family - Final. In the afternoon the competition continues with the Prize of the StädteRegion Aachen in memory of District Administrator Hermann-Josef Pütz and finally the Turkish Airlines Prize of Europe.

We start the day in dressage with the Prize of the Tesch family, known as Grand Prix CDIO5* 1. This concludes the dressage for Thursday.

It continues with the driving in the prize of Martello Immobilienmanagement GmbH & Co. KG, which is the first special stage for individual and team riders.
Main Stadium
Now it's the show jumpers' turn to end the day with a bang. They will kick things off with the Sparkassen Youngsters Cup. This will be followed by the STAWAG Prize, and to round off the day there will be the exciting Mercedes-Benz Nations' Cup.

Today, eventing begins with the SAP Cup dressage competition in the morning, which kicks off an exciting day. Later in the day, the dressage riders will take to the arena to compete for the Liselott and Klaus Rheinberger Foundation Prize, the Lindt Prize and the Prize of the Crafts.
Main Stadium
Both eventers and show jumpers will be competing in the main stadium on Friday. The first event to be held in this stadium is the NetAachen Prize. The VBR Prize and the RWE Prize of North Rhine-Westphalia will follow shortly after. The finale for the show jumpers will be the Feinkost Käfer Prize. To conclude the competition in the main stadium on Friday, the eventers will complete the SAP Cup show jumping competition.

2. Who Will Take Part in the CHIO Aachen 2023 This Year?
The CHIO Aachen is one of the goals that every rider would like to achieve at least once in his life. Qualifications take place in the run-up to the CHIO Aachen, where the national federations determine who from their country will take part in the event and the Nations' Cup™ in the respective disciplines.
2.1 Dressage
Germany
After the Longines Balve Optimum at the beginning of June, the DOKR Dressage Selection Committee and team trainer Monica Theodorescu have made their decision on the riders who will be competing at the CHIO Aachen horse & rider combinations to start at the CHIO Aachen. We are pleased to present the following riders and their horses!
Olympic gold medalist, German champion and public favorite Jessica von Bredow-Werndl will compete with Dalera BB in the CDIO 5* FEI Dressage Nations Cup™ leg in Aachen. She will be accompanied by Sönke Rothenberger with Fendi (if Ingrid Klimke cannot compete with Franziskus due to injury), Frederic Wandres with Bluetooth OLD and Isabell Werthwho has been in Aachen several times in the last 30 years.
In the CDI**** we will Sönke Rothenberger with Fendi, Matthias Rath with Thiago GS, Frederic Wandres with Duke of Britain FRH, Bianca Nowag-Aulenbrock with Florine OLD, Katharina Hemmer on Denoix PCH, Semmieke Rothenberger on Flanell and Isabell Werth with Emillio at the CDI4* at the CHIO Aachen.
Isabell Werth, Frederic Wandres, Jill Hollweg de Ridder, Helen Langenhanenberg, Thomas Wagner and Dorothee Schneider will compete at the CDI1*.
Our young riders will also be competing in Aachen, so we will have Ingrid Klimke's daughter Greta Busacker on Equitanas Firlefanz, Anna Derlien on Holy Golightly and Moritz Treffinger with Francis Royal at the CDIY, a competition for young dressage riders at the CHIO Aachen.
Great Britain
For this year's partner country Great Britain we can expect an amazing starting field in dressage. Not only an impressive show program with the British Household Cavalry, but also famous dressage riders will be competing in Aachen at the CDI4* and CDI5*.
In the CDI5*** - The FEI Nations Cup™, Great Britain's team is composed as follows:

- Charlotte Dujardin with Imhotep (Everdale x Vivaldi)

In the CDI* Small Tour we will see Charlotte Dujardin with Times Kismet (Ampere x Lord Leatherdale) and Charlotte Fry with Kashmir.
At the CDIY we will see Anabella Pigley again with the bay mare Espe by Escolar x Dimaggio.
USA
At the FEI World Cup™ Finals in Omaha, we have the opportunity to see the amazing Anna Buffini with her Hanoverian mare FRH Davina la Douche and Alice Tarjan with her own mare Serenada MF at the CDIO5* at the CHIO Aachen to watch. They were accompanied by Susie Dutta on Don Design DC and Sarah Tubman on First Apple.
In the CDI* Christian Simonson will compete with Zeaball Diawind and in the CDIY with Son of a Lady. Erin Nichols will also compete in the CDIY with Handsome Rob AR.
Belgium
At CHIO Aachen Larissa Pauluis will ride Flambeau in the CDIO5* and Charlotte Defalque will ride Boticelli in the CDIO4*.
The Netherlands
The Dutch team travels to Aachen with our favorite dressage riders from the Netherlands:

- Thamar Zweistra with Hexagon's I White
- Lynne Maas with Electra
as a reserve they bring Denise Nekeman with Boston STH.
Sweden
For Sweden we will see Johanna Due Boje with Mazy Klovenhoj in CDIO5*, accompanied by Patrik Kittel on Forever Young Hrh, Antonia Ramel on Curiosity and Therese Nilshagen on Dante Weltino OLD and with la Vie in CDI1*.
France
The French equipe is on its way to the city of Aachen and of course to the CHIO Aachen.
They will compete in the CDIO5*:

Denmark brings its top riders to Aachen, Andreas Helgestrand, Carina Cassøe Krüth, Nanna Skodborg Merrald and Lone Bang Zindorff. They all start at the CDIO***** and Daniel Bachmann, Andreas Helgstrand and Nana Skodborg Merrald will also compete in the CDI4*.
Spain
The Spanish team with Beatriz Ferrer-Salat, José Antonio Garcia Mena, Juan Antionio Jimenez Cobo and Jode Daniel Martin Dockx will travel to the CHIO Aachen. They will start in the CDIO5* and some of them in the CDI4* and CDI1*.

2.2 Show jumping
Watching the show jumpers compete in Aachen is always spectacular. In the main arena we can watch the best riders from all over the world compete in the Mercedes-Benz Nations' Cup, the Rolex Grand Prix and the Young Horses and Young Riders competition. But who is riding in Aachen this year? Here are some of the riders who will be competing at the CHIO Aachen at the start, sorted by the countries they are riding for.
Germany
Riding in Aachen is one of the main goals of every German show jumper. This year's team riders for the Mercedes-Benz Nations' Cup are:

Looking back at the German Championships in Balve, Mario Stevens was named as the favorite to keep an eye on, as he has already qualified for the CHIO Aachen 2022 via the German Championships. This year he qualified for Aachen again with his teammates.
But other German riders are also competing in Aachen. Maurice Tebbel for example, can tick off another goal on his bucket list for 2023.In an interview for the Longines Balve Optimum he said:
"At the beginning of 2023, I have set myself two goals: To ride in the German Championships in Balve and to compete in Aachen at the CHIO."
With the second place at the German Show Jumping Championships he has reached his first goal and will compete with Chacco's Light and Quasi Top at the CSIO and with Kenzo at the CHIO Aachen in the show jumping competition. We can also watch the elite at the CSIO and in the JH (Young Horses) at the Aachen Soers:

With Edouard Schmitz, Steve Guerdat, Martin Fuchs, Alain Jufer and Niklaus Schurtenberger, the Swiss elite is heading to Aachen to win in the Nations Cup and the other prestigious competitions.
Sweden
These Swedish riders are competing in Aachen this year:

That McLain Ward and HH Azur will be at the CHIO Aachen is a sure thing after the past tournaments. The American is just one win away from winning the Rolex Grand Slam! Ward will also be competing in Aachen with Callas (CSIO) and Contagious (CSIO). Furthermore we get Laura Kraut and Baloutinue in Aachen and we are curious to see how they will do in the Nations' Cup. Did you know that the 13-year-old gelding was bred in Germany and already had many successes before Laura Kraut started riding him in 2021?
Kraut will also bring Dorado 212 (CSIO), Haley (CSIO) and Una Mariposa (JH) to the CHIO Aachen 2023.
Another elite rider from the USA brings Acota M (CSIO), Chance Ste Hermelle (CSIO) and Nespresso van 'T Laekhof (CSIO) to Aachen. We are looking forward to it, to welcome Natalie Dean in Aachen and to see her in the challenging competitions. In addition Ryan Devin with Eddie Blue and Bliss Heers with Antidote de Mars (CSIO), Christian's Cash (JH), Goodbye (CSIO) and Petit Gervais v.d.Weidekouter (CSIO). Ansgar Holtgers Jr. competes with Kennedy Z in CSI*.

Are you ready, Tamra Smith and Mai Baum in Aachen? Tamie Smith was a member of the U.S. eventing team that won gold at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. She also took the win at the Landrover Kentucky Three Day Event in May 2023. We are excited to see her back in Aachen this year and are looking forward to seeing if she can repeat her Kentucky win at the SAP Cup in Aachen. She will be accompanied by her teammates:

For Australia, Boyd Exell will bring 01A Celviro, 01B Checkmate, 01C Hero, 01D Ivor and 01E Mad Max 81 to the CAIO4* with World Cup qualifier to the CHIO Aachen 2023. The reigning FEI Driving World Cup™ winner will also compete in the Jump and Drive with Bajnok, Barny 68, Naesto Jupiter and Neapolitano Nimrod.
On the CAIO4* he will be accompanied by Tor van den Berge and his carriage horses: 02A Carbery Estate Cato, 02B Carbery Estate Chino, 02C Indiana, 02D Jeebert and 02E Kerosine.
