Nations Cup in Wellington - FEI trophy from Compiègne

Detour across the Atlantic - a curiosity on the side

Contents

A week ago, the German team secured victory in the Nations Cup in Wellington, while the USA took silver and Sweden bronze. The winner's trophy sent by the FEI traveled an impressive 7,664 km from Lausanne, Switzerland, to Florida - but unfortunately it was the wrong one: the one that will not be won until the Nations Cup in Compiègne, France, in May. Compiègne, a European stage that is only 644 km away from Lausanne.

In view of the logistical curiosity, it was jokingly suggested that the German team or the organizers of the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington could send the trophy on to France. Another idea: An FEI delegation traveling to Wellington next week to inspect the new noseband regulations could take the trophy back to Europe. However, the team will only visit the show jumping facility - not the dressage, although both are under the same management.
