Grand Slam of Eventing 2025 suspended

Series paused for the first time since 2001 - future uncertain

The prestigious Grand Slam of Eventing Series will not take place in 2025 - for the first time since its launch in 2001 - due to the lack of a sponsor after Rolex withdrew from funding.

Pippa Funnell and Michael Jung are the only riders to have won the Grand Slam so far. The title is awarded to the rider who wins the CCI5* competitions in Kentucky, Badminton and Burghley in direct succession - a success that is rewarded with a prize of 350,000 US dollars.

According to a statement from US Equestrian, the organizers are currently examining alternative formats for the series while the search for a new sponsor continues. Whether and in what form the Grand Slam will continue in the future remains unclear for the time being.

At the same time, the sport of eventing continues to develop: the recently announced US Equestrian Open of Eventing will be held with prize money of 200,000 US dollars at the CCI4*-L finals in Morven Park in October. This event could also attract international riders, particularly due to its proximity to the Maryland 5*.

Whether the Grand Slam returns in a new form depends largely on the search for sponsors.
