Home victory for Team USA at the Nations Cup in Ocala
German team in second place
Contents
A single time fault decided the day's victory at the FEI Nations Cup in Ocala (USA): the US team came out on top just ahead of the German team. Riding for Germany were Christian Kukuk, André Thieme, Sophie Hinners and Richard Vogel. Kukuk and Hinners were particularly strong, both remaining clear in both rounds.
Thieme's time fault in the first round ultimately tipped the scales, as Vogel's ride with 16 penalty points was counted as a scratch result. Vogel was allowed to take a break in the second round, but despite another solid performance, it was no longer enough to win due to a knockdown by Thieme.
The USA had a total of four penalty points, Germany five. The Belgians came third. After the first two stages in Abu Dhabi and Ocala, Germany and Ireland are tied at the top of the series table. The next stop is Rotterdam in June, with the final in Barcelona in October.
