On February 21, 2025, Jean-Pierre Kratzer, founder and president of the IENA Avenches, passed away at the age of 75 after a serious illness. With his passing, the equestrian world loses a formative personality whose tireless commitment leaves behind a significant legacy.
As a businessman and equestrian sports enthusiast, Kratzer developed the IENA into one of the largest equestrian sports centers in Europe. His vision and determination made it possible to build an infrastructure that is now the venue for top-class events such as the CCIO Avenches and the national breeding and young horse championships. Despite opposition, he pushed through his vision and created a place where equestrian sport and breeding come together at the highest level.
Swiss Equestrian President Damian Müller paid tribute to Kratzer as an exceptional visionary whose work has had a lasting impact on the Swiss equestrian sports landscape.
