British dressage rider Laura Tomlinson said a sad farewell yesterday to "Alf" and "Andy", who were both 30 years old and had shaped her career.
Laura was highly successful in Grand Prix dressage with both horses. The Hanoverian Andretti H (Aarking xx x Cavalier), who everyone called "Andi", helped her to numerous successes in the Grand Prix.
The Danish gelding Mistral Højris ( Michellino X Virginia) was Laura's partner at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. At the 2009 European Championships in Windsor, England, they won team silver and individual bronze.
The following year, at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky (USA), they won three silver medals, two of them in the individual competition and one with the team.
The highlight of their sporting career was their participation in the 2012 Olympic Games in London, where they won Olympic gold with the team and a bronze medal in the individual competition.
