Lilly Kasselmann highly successful in Wellington
Family dilemma over the sale of the pony?
Contents
11-year-old Lilly Kasselmann caused quite a stir at the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington: With her pony Charly Brown, a 17-year-old Rhinelander(FS Champion De Luxe x FS Don't Worry), she won all six starts and always scored over 70%. Lilly Kasselmann therefore managed to win every competition in which she competed in 2025. Charly Brown is also no stranger to international pony dressage: He competed under the saddle of Diana De Meo until 2020 and previously under Helen Erbe.
According to Dressage - News, Lilly's father, Francois Kasselmann, announced a possible sale of Charly Brown. Lilly, on the other hand, is strictly opposed to such a sale - and quickly turned to her grandfather Ullrich Kasselmann to prevent the sale.
Ponies in dressage are rare in the USA, especially in comparison to their great popularity in the hunter arena. It remains to be seen whether Charly Brown will continue to ride Lilly despite his extraordinary success or whether he will soon find a new rider.
