Rumors about Sönke Rothenberger's Matchball OLD were already circulating in mid-January: The successful Grand Prix black horse was presented at a selection course in Darmstadt Kranichstein under the young German rider Nora Feldmann. Semmieke Rothenberger has now officially announced on Instagram that this pair has been nominated to take part in the selection course for the Preis der Besten in Ansbach. This will take place from March 21 - 23, 2025.
Matchball OLD (Millennium x De Niro) was last presented by Sönke Rothenberger at the Longines Balve Optimum last June. The now 13-year-old gelding, bred by Helga Lütje, was originally trained by Stefanie Wolf up to Grand Prix level and celebrated great successes with her, including placings at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses and qualification for the Louisdor Prize. At the end of 2022, he became the property of the Rothenberger family, where he competed as their second Grand Prix horse alongside Fendi.
Nora Feldmann is coached by Semmieke Rothenberger. With her ponies FS Capelli de Niro and Beauty W, she has already achieved numerous successes at national and international competitions as part of the pony rider squad. Turning 16 this year, she is now ready to switch to a large horse.
