New EHV-1 case confirmed in central Sweden

In a stable in the municipality of Tierp, Uppsala, a case of the Equine Herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1) was detected. The competent authorities have recommended isolation measures to prevent further spread.

According to the Smittinfo platform, there are also suspected cases in other regions. The neurological form of EHV-1 is suspected in Skövde, Västra Götalands län, and several possible cases of druse have been reported in Norrbotten, Dalarna and Västra Götalands län. The authorities are advising horse owners to be more vigilant and take strict hygiene measures.
