After Jessica von Bredow-Werndl was able to defend her dressage title yesterday, we were watching the show jumpers today.

Because in the show jumping competition, the winner is not the rider who wins the third round, but the rider with the lowest penalty points after the complete three rounds. After Round II at the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final. the points will be converted into penalty points. The rider with the highest score after the first two competitions at the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final will start with zero penalty points. The penalty points of the following riders will be multiplied by the difference between their score and that of the leading rider by 0.5.

In Round III, the final, the 30 best riders from the previous two rounds (Round I & Round II) of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final.. The Round III is divided into two rounds, in the first round of Round III the participants start in reverse order, i.e. the rider with the most penalty points starts.

The 20 best riders from the first round of Round III will then qualify for the second round in the World Cup Show Jumping Final. Nevertheless, the remaining 10 riders can decide to ride in the second round, but the result of this round does not count for these riders to the final classification, but only for the classification and the prize money of the competition itself.

After the 20 best riders in the second round of the final of the Longines FEl Jumping World Cup™ Final have started, the rider with the fewest penalty points wins the Jumping World Cup title. There will only be a jump-off if two or more riders have the same number of points at the end.

The second round of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final Round III

Those who love the thrill of show jumping got their money's worth on Saturday at the final showdown in show jumping. The international starting field of the top 20 made it exciting! Kevin Staut, was the first rider to stay clear in the demanding second round. The exciting thing about this round is that the tide can turn completely here, because it is not only about the points of this round, but the result is added to the previous penalty points. The Irishman Denis Lynch is the second one who managed to finish the course without any faults, by the way also in the first round, this placed him in front of Kevin Staut in the final of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final 2023..

After a short break Scott Brash and Hello Jefferson entered the course, with one fault at the penultimate jump he initially placed behind Denis Lynch. When the winner of the previous jumping round rode in, the air suddenly stood still and the spectators held their breath. Everyone watched this round of Richard Vogel and United Touch S in Omaha, no faults for this pair, yet they exceeded the allowed time and received a penalty point.

Then came Denmark's Andreas Schou and pushed Denis Lynch out of first place with his phenomenal clear round in the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final. But there we did the math without Yuri Mansur, the Brazilian flew away with Vitiki over the course of the second round and promptly placed ahead of Andreas Schou.

Pepita Con Spita! You are amazing! Together with Hunter Holloway the mare also flew over the course and remained clear.

The last three pairs in this competition once again cranked up the excitement of this jumping competition, with the Dutchman Harrie Smolders with Monaco N.O.P., who set his course for first place. Then came Henrik von Eckermannwho remained clear in this round and took first place. Pius Schwizer, the last starter, was also unable to catch the Swede. And then it was clear. Henrik von Eckermann is the world champion in show jumping.
