lecture series in Herning

During the Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing from 5 to 9 March 2025 in Herning, Hestens Værn is organising a series of specialist lectures and a panel discussion, this time on the topic of horse welfare.

On Friday, March 7, two veterinarians will provide insights into performance reductions in apparently healthy horses. This will be followed by a lecture on dealing with stress in horses and finally a panel discussion moderated by Hans-Christian Matthiesen , in which Karin Nissen , Mette Svare Ehlers and Kimi Nielsen will discuss young horses in competitive sport.

On Saturday, March 8th, the focus of the event will be on the behavior and well-being of horses.

Stricter rules in equestrian sport” - FEI World Cup Finals in Basel

The 2025 FEI World Cup Finals in show jumping, dressage and vaulting will take place in Basel from April 2 to 6. For Thomas Straumann , Chairman of the Longines CHI Classics Basel and passionate horse owner, this is an opportunity to focus even more specifically on the importance of animal welfare.

It is an important event for Basel, as three equestrian disciplines have never before been held in one place in Switzerland, Straumann explained in a conversation with Prime News . Straumann attaches particular importance to animal welfare: "Stricter rules are needed in equestrian sports." For this reason, he involved animal welfare organizations in the planning of the World Cup finals to ensure the welfare of the horses.
