The 7-year-old Skyline To B(Blue Hors St. Schufro x Ampere), once a celebrated young stallion in breeding and sport, was gelded. After his sale to Yara Reichert in the fall of 2024, she decided to take this step for safety and welfare reasons.
Under the Swedish rider Carl Hedin, Skyline To B won the Swedish Championships for 3- and 4-year-olds before coming fourth in the final for 5-year-olds at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Ermelo in 2023. He also caused a stir in breeding, was the most used dressage sire in Sweden in 2024 and achieved good results in the German sport test.
Reichert explained that the stallion, at 190 cm tall, had been difficult to control, especially in their facility filled with mares. After consulting Carl Hedin, who had already warned about this, he confirmed that castration was the best solution.
The decision is not a loss for breeding, as sufficient frozen semen remains available. Reichert is now positive about the sporting future of Skyline To B, who is more relaxed after castration and can be better integrated into everyday life. As a gelding, he will continue his career in dressage.
