Vaulting horse Humphrey Bogart OLD, three-time gold medal winner at the European and World Championships, is no longer alive. The 1.88-metre tall Oldenburg, who was always reliable, willing to perform and devoted to his people, lived in Waldenbuch, where his owners Dr. Henning and Christine Schlumbohm run an equine clinic, after retiring from the sport in 2022. He died peacefully on Friday, February 21 at the age of 17.

The mighty black stallion(His Highness x Rubinstein I) bred by Hans Francksen (Waddens) entered the big sporting stage for the first time with the Nordheim junior team. In 2017, the team led by lunger Andrea Blatz qualified to compete at the Junior World Championships in Ebreichsdorf/Austria, where they won the gold medal straight away. The special feature: Humphrey Bogart's owner Anne Schlumbohm vaulted with "number 1" in the team at the time. In 2018, Team Nordheim repeated the previous year's success by winning the gold medal at the Junior European Championships in Kaposvar/Hungary. Two years later,"Humphy" helped Junior Team New Zealand to a historic sixth place at the Junior World Championships in Ermelo/Netherlands.

From 2020, Humphrey Bogart OLD stood at the DOKR national base in Warendorf and helped Janika Derks and Johannes Kay to outstanding successes in the Pas-de-Deux. Together with Nina Vorberg on the lunge line, they made history at the 2021 World Championships in Budapest/Hungary, where they won the first World Championship gold medal for Germany in the senior pas de deux. In April 2022, the Derks/Kay duo also managed to win the World Cup Final in Leipzig before the big-framed Oldenburg was retired from the sport together with the two vaulters.
