Rolf-Göran Bengtsson and Zuccero HV(Zirocco Blue x Caretino) triumphed in the 1.60 m Grand Prix of the Longines League of Nations in Abu Dhabi yesterday, 13.02.2025: After two clear rounds, the pair secured victory with a lead of almost six seconds over Tim Gredley. But despite their success, this could have been their last Grand Prix together.
The Holsteiner Verband, owner of the stallion, is planning to sell Zuccero HV, as Bengtsson explained to the Swedish Equestrian Federation. Unfortunately, Bengtsson has so far tried in vain to find a solution to keep the horse.
As Bengtssson explains, the current situation is that something has to happen quickly before the stallion is on the market. According to Bengtsson, if a sale were to actually take place, this would mean the end of his career: he would no longer be able to train a new horse before he was too old - he could continue with Zuccero HV for a few more years.
On Sunday, the pair will compete together once again in the Nations League, together with Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli and Angelie von Essen.
