Two licensed stallions disqualified after positive medication test

Delany and Sir Security lose licensing - new performance planned

At the Hanoverian Verband's re-licensing on January 31, two stallions presented were subsequently disqualified due to positive medication tests. Delany (Donkey Boy x Sezuan) and Sir Security (Springbank II x Donkey Boy), both presented by the Danish Hesselhoej Stud, were found to contain the active ingredients sulfadiazine and trimethoprim - substances that are not permitted in competition according to FN guidelines.

According to the stud farm, the preparations were used to treat skin irritations after shearing. As these are FEI-approved antibiotics, it was assumed that they were used in accordance with the rules. The stud farm emphasized that there was no performance-enhancing intention and that it regrets the situation.

Regardless of the reason, the regulations of the Hannoveraner Verband apply: Both stallions lose their licensing certificate. A new presentation is planned after the expiry of a three-month blocking period.
