The 17-year-old KWPN stallion Desperado(Vivaldi x Havidoff x Ferro), former Dutch team horse of Emmelie Scholtens, was retired from the sport and sold to Hengstenhouderij Brouwers for breeding.

Bred by the Andeweg family, the stallion was initially jointly owned with Ad Valk when his career began with the 2011 licensing in the Netherlands. Under Scholtens, he made a successful start in the sport: from winning the Pavo Cup in 2012 and placing at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses to winning the World Cup in Mechelen. His greatest sporting success in 2019 was winning the team silver medal at the European Championships in Rotterdam. He has won a total of seven victories from 40 international starts.

Breeding career and future

With 1,331 KWPN-registered offspring, including five licensed sons and 78 elite mares, Desperado has already become an integral part of breeding. His best-known sons include Ibiza, Dettori and Mowgli VOD, who were licensed in Germany.
